Education is a Human Right, Not A Privilege and should be guaranteed to everyone by our government. Higher Education used to be tuition free in California, all the way through medical school. Under the Master Plan for Higher Education implemented by the first governor Brown in the 1960's and 1970's. California had Nobel Prize winning talents coming out from U.C. Berkeley and scientific advancements like software from the Silicon Valley. Our educational system was the envy of the world. Other countries adopted our model and still use it today. Unfortunately for students today, this opportunity has been taken away by politicians who enjoyed tuition free higher education themselves. For example, Congressman Lou Correa attended California State University Fullerton 45 years ago tuition free. And then took that opportunity away from us. College education is necessary for the United States to have an educated workforce and be competitive in the global economy.
